Ahmet İçduygu is a full Professor at Koç University, Istanbul, holding dual appointments in the Department of International Relations and Department of Sociology within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. He serves as Director of the Migration Research Center at Koç (MiReKoc) and formerly held the deanship of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities.
His research spans Migration Studies, Citizenship, International Organizations, Civil Society, Nationalism, and Ethnicity, with emphasis on migration policy dynamics in European and Turkish contexts. He investigates intersections of migration management, development frameworks, and integration practices through collaborations with IOM, UNHCR, EU, OECD, and ILO.
Recent publications demonstrate focused expertise in transit migration governance and EU policy evolution, particularly through MIGNEX project outputs analyzing comparative management approaches and migration-development linkages in third-country cooperation contexts.
Prof. İçduygu leads Work Package 8 in MIGNEX, securing research funding for survey data collection in Turkey and evaluation of European migration cooperation models. His policy-oriented projects consistently address practical implementation challenges in migration governance.
As MiReKoc Director, he oversees interdisciplinary research initiatives advancing migration scholarship with specific attention to Global South perspectives, notably through events like the MiReKoc 15th Anniversary Conference on migration and development.
