Prof. Dr. Ahmet ESKİCUMALI is a distinguished faculty member at Sakarya University's Faculty of Communication, Department of New Media and Communication. With a long-standing academic career dating back to 1995 when he joined as an Assistant Professor, he has progressed to his current position as Professor. His academic journey began with education at Gazi University's Faculty of Education followed by advanced studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned his doctorate with a thesis on "Education and Ideology: The Reconstruction of Turkish Curriculum For Social and Cultural Change: 1923-1946".
His research interests span Educational Sociology, Curriculum Development, Social Change and Education, Communication Studies, New Media, Teacher Education, Educational Policy, and Digital Literacy. His scholarly work demonstrates a consistent focus on the intersection of education, social transformation, and media. He has supervised numerous master's theses across various educational topics and has been actively involved in research projects related to educational quality, teacher training, and curriculum development.
His recent publications reveal an evolving research trajectory that has increasingly incorporated digital media and communication technologies, with significant work on topics such as social media's impact on society, digital literacy, and the transformation of cultural practices in the network society. His 2021 article "Kitle Toplumundan Ağ Toplumuna Taraftarlık Altkültürünün Değişim Pratikleri: Fenerbahçe Tribünü" exemplifies his interest in social change through media, while his 2023 work on digital literacy following the February earthquake shows his responsiveness to contemporary societal challenges.
Professor ESKİCUMALI has been actively teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, including "Education's Social and Cultural Dimensions," "Curriculum Development in Education," and "Turkish Educational History." His academic contributions extend beyond teaching and research to include significant involvement in educational projects and academic service at Sakarya University.
