Ahmed Ansari is an Industry Assistant Professor at New York University's Integrated Digital Media program within the Department of Technology, Culture & Society. He co-directs the PhD program in Human-Centered Design, Technology, and Innovation. His teaching focuses on interaction/systems design, design research, and design history. Research interests include decolonial perspectives in design, non-Anglo-European knowledge systems, and the politics of knowledge production in design education.
Recent projects include an NEH-funded grant analyzing moss to redesign public digital humanities archives and a videogame (Points of View(ing)) addressing cultural difference in academic settings. He is affiliated with the Decolonising Design platform and the Architecture Design Research Lab in Karachi. His work bridges design, philosophy, and cultural anthropology to critique contemporary technology practices.
Professional experience includes prior roles as a graphic designer and UX/game designer. He advises curriculum development for design programs at institutions like Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and Habib University in Karachi.
