Dr. Ahmad Yengimolki is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of York's Department of History of Art, collaborating with Professor Marcus Milwright on the project Making Meaning: Craft Practices and the Process of Change in Islamic Art. His research focuses on cultural exchanges involving religious minorities in Islamic societies, particularly Safavid-era Armenian architecture and textile arts. He holds a PhD from the University of York (2023) and an MA from the Islamic Art University of Tabriz.
His doctoral thesis, A Safavid Armenian Monument: Architectural Hybridity at the Vank Cathedral in Isfahan, examines Armenian migration and architectural adaptation in 17th-century Iran, currently under consideration for publication by Edinburgh University Press. Earlier work includes studies on Safavid Shi’ism's influence on weaving, Nowruz's relationship with carpet art, and early Islamic illustration techniques.
Teaching roles include instructing courses on Islamic art history and serving as a teaching assistant for introductory art history modules. He has also taught kilim drawing and Islamic geometric patterns.
