Ahmad Rad is a Professor and Graduate Student Supervisor at the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, part of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Simon Fraser University. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sussex (1989) and has dedicated his career to advancing autonomous systems and intelligent control.
- Education:
- Ph.D., University of Sussex, UK (1989)
- M.Sc., University of Bradford, UK (1986)
- B.Sc., Abadan Institute of Technology, Iran (1977)
His research focuses on autonomous systems, with particular emphasis on driverless cars, SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), and intelligent control mechanisms. His recent publications reveal a strong trend toward improving robotic navigation, adaptive control systems, and human-robot interaction frameworks.
Professor Rad has been instrumental in teaching core mechatronic engineering courses such as Electric Circuits, Systems Modeling and Simulation, and Industrial Control Systems. His work bridges theoretical research with practical implementation in mechatronic and automotive domains.
