Dr. Ahmad Khundakar is the Head of Integrated Science and Associate Professor of Pharmacy at Teesside University. He leads strategic planning, academic leadership, and curriculum design within the School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS). His roles include mentoring staff/students and collaborating with the General Pharmaceutical Council. He holds an Associate Lecturer position at Newcastle University’s Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Education:

Research Interests: Dr. Khundakar focuses on neuropharmacology, neuropathology, and neurodegenerative diseases. His work explores dementia mechanisms, particularly Lewy body dementia, using advanced techniques like Raman spectroscopy and machine learning. He investigates delirium’s impact on dementia in care homes and collaborates with the Dementia Research Partnership Network. His earlier studies included neurotrophic factors (BDNF) in depression and visual hallucinations in LBD.
