Ahlem Mifdaoui is a Full Professor at the Department of Communication Systems Engineering (DISC) within the School of Engineering at University of Toulouse - ISAE-Supaero, France, a position she has held since 2017. She leads the SysCo Team at DISC Department since September 2024 and previously served as Head of the Embedded Systems Major in Master Aerospace Engineering from 2017 to September 2023.
Her research spans multiple critical areas in real-time systems and networking, with a strong focus on Real-Time Communication Protocols and Standards (including AVB/TSN/5G, ARINC 664, TTE, and Real-Time Ethernet profiles), Scheduling and Resource Management for Multi/Many-core Architectures, and Performance Evaluation and Optimization Techniques using Network Calculus approaches. Her work has significant applications in Cyber Physical Systems across avionics, space, automation, Industry 4.0, automotive, and smart grid domains.
Professor Mifdaoui has developed the WoPANets tool for worst-case dimensioning of real-time networks and has supervised numerous PhD students across various research projects including Move4SPS, EDEN2, IREHDO2, AERORING, OMCEN, and APENISS. Her publication record shows consistent contributions to top conferences in real-time systems and networking since 2007, with recent work focusing on Time-Sensitive Networking for Industry 4.0 and aerospace applications.
She actively contributes to the academic community through:
- Regular reviewing for journals including Real Time Systems (Springer), IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Computers, and Computers and Industrial Engineering
- TPC roles at major conferences including WFCS (General Chair 2024, Financial Chair 2023, TPC Chair 2020), ETFA, RTNS, DATE, INDIN, ECRTS, and SIES
- Service as Associate Editor of Special Section on Communication in Automation in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (2020)
Professor Mifdaoui's laboratory work centers around the SysCo Team, which focuses on communication networks research with applications in critical real-time systems. She has successfully secured funding from various sources including ANR, IRT St Exupery, and ISAE for her research projects and student supervision.
