Agustin Godas Otero

Agustin Godas Otero is a Full Professor at the Department of Methodology, Social and Basic Psychology within the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). He has held this position since July 1987 and teaches exclusively in the Degrees of Pedagogy and Social Education at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, where he has been a member of the Faculty Board since 1991. He actively participates in Master's and Doctoral programs nationally and internationally, and directs theses in the Doctoral Program in Education.

He earned his Doctor in Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela with a thesis on 'The role of phonological coding in the difficulties for learning to read' (1987). As a researcher, he focuses on social psychology, immigrant integration, and family-school collaboration, with publications in journals like Frontiers in Psychology and Evaluation and Program Planning.

He belongs to the ESCULCA Research Group (Competitive Reference Group of the Galician R&D&I System) and collaborates with networks including RIES and the 'University, Innovation and Learning in the Knowledge Society' Network of Excellence (MINECO). His scientific awards include a six-year research fellowship and two prestigious Galician educational research awards.

He has led research projects funded by Spain's Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, including 'Family involvement and performance in primary education' (EDU2015-66781-R), which produced three open-access publications. He currently directs two research contracts (Fundación Meniños and Asociación Arela) evaluating the Family Preservation Program.
