Agnieszka Setecka

Agnieszka Setecka is a Professor at the Faculty of English, Adam Mickiewicz University (AMU) in Poznań, Poland. She holds the title of University Professor (prof. UAM) and is actively engaged in research and teaching in the field of English literature and culture, with a strong emphasis on the Victorian period.

Her academic background includes advanced degrees in English literature: an M.A. (1997), Ph.D. (2001), and D.Litt. (2014), all from Poznań. She also holds an MBA in higher education management (2015), reflecting her engagement with academic leadership.

Her primary research interests lie in Victorian literature and culture, the realist novel, popular Victorian fiction, and neo-Victorian adaptations. She also specializes in Australian and New Zealand literature and has taught courses in literary theory and TEFL. Her scholarly work has been presented at numerous international conferences, especially those exploring the intersections of high and popular culture, gender, and postcolonial identities in 18th- and 19th-century British literature.

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the British Association for Victorian Studies (BAVS), the Polish Association for the Study of English (PASE), and the European Society for the Study of English (ESSE), as well as the Society for Australian and New Zealand Studies. She has contributed to academic publishing through editorial assistant roles for Studia Anglica Posnaniensa (2007–2008) and Kwartalnik Neofilologiczny (2005–2006).

Professor Setecka continues to contribute to the academic community through conference participation and interdisciplinary research, particularly in the areas of Victorian studies and Anglophone literatures of the Southern Hemisphere.
