Agnieszka Kendrick, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, leading the Kendrick Lab focused on intracellular transport regulation. Her research investigates molecular motors, their assembly, cargo handling, and communication, using advanced techniques like cryo-EM and live-cell imaging. She holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Wrocław, an MS and PhD in Structural Biology from the University of Colorado, Denver, and completed postdoctoral training at UC San Diego.
Her work aims to uncover how motor proteins contribute to diseases like Alzheimer’s and cancer. Key innovations include discoveries about dynein cargo specificity and motor coordination. Kendrick has been honored with awards including the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein Fellowship and the Leading Edge Symposium Fellowship.
The Kendrick Lab employs a multidisciplinary approach, fostering collaboration across disciplines. Current projects address motor complex assembly, bidirectional transport mechanisms, and disease-linked transport defects. The team includes postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduates, with a focus on mentorship and career development.
