Professor Agnieszka Chidlow is a Chair (Full Professor) in International Business at the University of Birmingham’s Birmingham Business School, within the Department of Strategy and International Business. She is a globally recognized leader in responsible management research and education, holding key leadership roles including Chair of the Responsible Research in Business and Management (RRBM) global network and former Secondee to the United Nations Global Compact’s Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). She also serves as the Responsible Management Research and Education Lead for the British Academy of Management IB/IM-SIG and holds advisory roles at Woxsen University, CARMA, and Aalto University.
Her research focuses on the internationalization of firms, international business strategies, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and methodological issues in cross-language research. She integrates insights from international business, economic geography, and data analytics to support data-driven, socially responsible decision-making. Her work has been published in top-tier journals such as Journal of International Business Studies, International Business Review, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and was rated 4* (world-leading) in the UK’s REF2021.
She is an active contributor to academic leadership, serving as Senior Editor of International Business Review and on editorial boards of journals like Journal of International Business Studies and Journal of World Business. She has founded influential academic initiatives including the Annual Strategy & International Business Symposium and the Responsible Research Methods Symposium, and co-founded the AIB Research Methods–Shared Interest Group (RM-SIG). Her teaching expertise spans international business, strategy, and research methodology across undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive programmes.
Her recent publications reveal a strong trend toward methodological innovation in international business, responsible research practices, and the intersection of digital globalization with sustainable development. She frequently publishes on qualitative paradigms, research design, and the role of multinational enterprises in advancing SDGs, particularly SDG 4, SDG 5, and SDG 16.

Professor Chidlow has successfully supervised numerous PhD students and is actively involved in doctoral supervision in areas such as internationalisation strategies, location choices, sustainable global value chains, and methodological challenges in cross-country research. She has led multiple knowledge exchange activities and is currently collaborating on a co-edited textbook on research methods and linguistics, a PRME-supported book on responsible management education, and dynamic international projects. She plays a critical role in shaping accreditation standards through her work with AMBA/BGA, AACSB, and EFMD (EQUIS).
She founded the Annual Strategy & International Business Symposium (2016–2021), the Responsible Research Methods Symposium (2019), and the RRBM on Tour Symposium (2022–present). She is a co-organizer of the PRME Global Forum (2024–2025) and has served on the Steering Committee of the RRBM Responsible Research Summit. Her leadership extends to international advisory boards and editorial roles, reinforcing her global impact in advancing responsible and rigorous business scholarship.
