Agnete Vabø serves as Vice-Dean for Research and Innovation at Oslo Metropolitan University's Faculty of Social Sciences, specifically within Oslo Business School's Public Administration and Governance department. Her leadership role encompasses strategic oversight of research activities and innovation initiatives across the faculty.
Dr. Vabø's research interests span public administration, governance, gender studies, and internationalization in higher education. She examines academic labor markets, diversity and inclusion policies, organizational identity in academic settings, and the geopolitical dimensions of research collaboration. Her work frequently addresses gender balance in research environments, particularly in climate science and international contexts, and explores barriers to recruitment and career advancement in academia.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on the intersection of geopolitics and academic internationalization, with particular attention to Scandinavian contexts. Her research demonstrates consistent engagement with gender dynamics in globalized research environments, organizational identity formation in higher education institutions, and diversity challenges in academic recruitment. The R-INSECURE project examining tensions between national security and internationalization represents a significant current research direction.
As Vice-Dean for Research and Innovation, Dr. Vabø leads the faculty's research strategy development and implementation. She oversees the Organization and Management in the Public Sector research group and contributes to the Public Administration and Governance research group. Her current R-INSECURE project addresses evolving tensions between national security and internationalization in Norwegian research organizations, while her completed GAP project investigated globalization's influence on gender balance in research and higher education.
