Agnete Eilertsen is Head of Department at the University of Agder, Norway, where she also earned her doctorate in popular music. She has served as subject manager for Punk studies since September 2017.
Research Interests:
- Representations of gender in Norwegian pop and rock
- Music’s relationship to politics, activism, and identity
- Popular music studies and cultural theory
Her scholarship explores how popular music articulates and negotiates social identities, with a particular focus on gender, politics, and activism within Norwegian musical contexts. Drawing on her background as a practicing singer and band member, she combines performance experience with scholarly analysis to illuminate the intersections of music, culture, and society.
Recent Scholarly Activity:
Eilertsen has contributed to ongoing scholarly discourse by reviewing and approving amendments on topics such as musical anticipation and counterpoint, demonstrating continued engagement with both contemporary and historical music-theoretical questions.
