Agnese Rosa AMADURI is a Researcher in Italian Literature at the Department of Humanities, University of Catania. Since April 2022, she has served as the Internationalization Delegate for her department. She is currently an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow - Experienced Researcher at the Institute for Literaturwissenschaft, University of Stuttgart, and a member of the Stuttgart Research Center for Text Studies. She was previously a Visiting Professor at the same institute during the 2022–2023 academic year and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Oxford (Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages) during 2016–2017.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Modern Philology (2008) and a second PhD in Cultural Heritage Studies (2018). In March 2018, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor in Italian Literature (sector 10/F1).
Her research spans a broad range of topics in Italian literary studies, with a focus on the Renaissance, particularly short stories, women's poetry, comic-burlesque poetry, and political treatises. She investigates literature and heterodoxy/heresy in the sixteenth century, libertinism as a political, religious, and moral phenomenon, and naturalism and realism, especially the works of Federico De Roberto. Her interests also include the writings of Leonardo Sciascia, women's writing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and children's literature during the Fascist period.
She has participated in multiple research projects, including an international project funded by Monash University and the national PRIN PNRR Co.Ver.Less. research group (University of Catania and CNR). From 2013 to 2015, she taught Italian as a second language at the Dante Alighieri Society – Catania Committee.
