Dr. Agnes Slunitschek is a Senior Research Associate at the Chair of Fundamental Theology and Comparative Religious Studies within the Faculty of Catholic Theology at Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg (Germany). Her academic work focuses on ecumenical theology, the concept of sensus fidei, synodal church structures, and Orthodox-Catholic dialogue.
Research Focus: She explores the sensus fidei (sense of faith) as a theological epistemology, analyzing its role in ecclesiology, revelation theory, and church reform. Her 2025 monograph Der Glaubenssinn. Begründung – Beschreibung – Beurteilung – Beziehungen represents a major contribution to this field. She also investigates religious art in conflict contexts, notably through her 2024 article on icons appearing on ammunition crates during war.
Academic Activities: Active in ecumenical research networks since 2018, she serves as Treasurer of the Societas Oecumenica (European Society for Ecumenical Research) and participates in the academic year program of the International Ecumenical Center in Jerusalem (2024). Her teaching experience includes dogmatic theology at Freiburg University of Education and ecumenical theology at Tübingen.
