معرفی
Dr. Agi Brandt-Talbot is an Associate Professor in Sustainable Materials Chemistry at Imperial College London, leading the Sustainable Carbon Solutions research team. She holds affiliations with multiple institutes including the CDT in Chemical Biology (as supervisor), Energy Futures Lab, Grantham Institute, and the Institute of Chemical Biology. Her research focuses on developing sustainable bio-derived materials and chemicals from biomass using tailored solvents like ionic liquids.
Education:
- BSc in Chemistry & Biochemistry (Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, 2001–2005)
- MSc in Chemistry (Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, 2005–2007)
- PhD in Chemistry (Imperial College London, 2007–2012)
Research Interests: Dr. Brandt-Talbot pioneers processes to replace fossil fuels with renewable carbon sources. Her lab designs ionic liquids for applications in lignin refinement, plastic recycling, and circular economy systems. Key projects include low-cost renewable carbon fibers from lignin and chemical recycling of polyester/multi-layer packaging.
Awards:
- President's Award of Excellence for Outstanding Early Career Researcher (2015)
- Sir William Wakeham Award (2016)
- Imperial College Research Fellowship (2017)
Advising & Grants: She supervises PhD candidates via the President's Scholarship 2025 program, requiring top academic performance and research potential. Current PhD topics include sustainable carbon fibers and advanced lignin analysis (NMR/GPC). She co-founded startup Lixea and serves as Honorary Treasurer of the RSC Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids Discussion Group.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Green Carbon Solutions Lab at Imperial's Molecular Sciences Research Hub, White City Campus. Collaborates on industrial projects with companies like Econic Technologies.
