Dr. Agha Bayramov is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts, Department of International Relations and International Organization (IRIO). He teaches seminars on Energy Security, Climate Change, Political Science, and International Organization history. Previously, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Zurich's Center for Eastern European Studies (2022) and has delivered guest lectures at Harvard University, University of Zurich, and Tokyo International University.
His research focuses on energy geopolitics, security dynamics in Eurasia, and EU-Central Asia relations, with fieldwork expertise in the Caspian region. Key interests include:
- Infrastructure politics and transnational corporations
- Climate change impacts on energy security
- Conflict resolution in Nagorno-Karabakh
- EU governance strategies in Central Asia
His recent publications analyze crisis-driven EU foreign policy, green energy corridors between Europe and the Caspian, and geopolitical constraints in Central Asia. Article themes cluster around energy transition governance, post-Soviet regional security, and EU neighborhood policy adaptation.
