Agathe Berland is a Researcher at the University of Rouen Normandy, affiliated with the ERIAC research unit (UR 4705) under the UFR Letters and Human Sciences. Her specialties include 20th Century American Literature, with a focus on J.D. Salinger and fictional character analysis. She holds a doctorate in the 11th section (Literature and Arts).
Her research explores themes such as identity, narrative techniques, and the role of margins in literary creation. She has published works analyzing Holden Caulfield and Salinger’s Seymour: An Introduction, and has presented at international conferences on topics like Salinger’s introspective writing and character trajectories.
Berland has contributed to organizing academic events, including ERIAC’s Doctoral Students’ Day (2016) and a conference on Percival Everett (2013). She has taught literature at the University of Rouen as an ATER (2015–2017), and previously served as an associate professor in high school and a part-time English teacher at Rouen Prison (2008–2010). She also lectured in French at the University of Liverpool (2008–2009).
