Dr. Agata Troost is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Spatial Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Economic Geography. Her research focuses on socio-spatial inequalities, neighborhood effects on educational outcomes, and the role of international NGOs in historical contexts. She participates in the ESSPIN project (European Spatial Planning Initiative Network).
Research interests include analyzing how socioeconomic exposure in neighborhoods influences education, historical studies of INGOs during major conflicts, and methodological innovations in sociological research using big data. She has contributed to debates on class stratification measurement through critiques of Dutch policy frameworks.
Key publications explore neighborhood histories' impact on education, methodological approaches to spatial selection effects, and interdisciplinary applications of big data. Her work appears in journals like PLoS ONE and Urban Studies, with ongoing projects involving collaborative spatial analysis across Dutch cities.
Media engagements include commentaries on neighborhood safety, social mixing policies, and class consciousness in contemporary society. Troost's research bridges geography, sociology, and policy analysis to address urban inequality mechanisms.
