Adrienne Sörbom is a Professor at the Department of Social Anthropology, Stockholm University, affiliated with the Stockholm Centre for Organizational Research (SCORE). Her research focuses on political globalization, global governance, and the role of transnational think tanks in shaping policy agendas, particularly through the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Nordic climate policy institutions. She leads VR- and Formas-funded projects on global climate governance and non-state diplomacy from 2023–2026.
Her work spans organizational theory, secrecy practices in diplomacy, corporate political engagement, and foresight studies. Recent publications analyze how think tanks use partial organization to influence global agendas, the politics of anticipation in UNESCO, and the emotional labor of future scenario-building. She has extensively studied WEF's discretionary governance, blending ethnography with policy analysis to critique democratic accountability in transnational networks.
While no students or scientific awards are listed, her contributions to understanding transnational policy brokers, meta-organizations, and the interplay between corporate and political actors are foundational to global governance debates. She bridges anthropological methods with organizational theory to interrogate power structures in non-state diplomacy.
