Dr. Adrienne Steiner-Brett serves as Assistant Professor of Music Therapy in the School of Music within East Carolina University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. Her primary appointment includes directing research initiatives through the Music Therapy Clinic @ ECU while maintaining active affiliations with Lesley University (doctoral committee service) and the American Music Therapy Association (Ethics Board leadership).
Her research program centers on innovative music therapy applications for informal caregivers, particularly through the development and evaluation of the 'Listen, Breathe, Move' intervention model. This work integrates therapeutic music experiences with gentle movement to address caregiver burnout, psychosocial health, and quality of life across diverse populations including Parkinson's caregivers and rural community members. Current projects explore virtual delivery methods and asynchronous intervention formats.
Dr. Steiner-Brett's publication record demonstrates consistent output in top music therapy journals including The Arts in Psychotherapy and Music Therapy Perspectives, with recent emphasis on feasibility studies, integrative reviews, and virtual intervention models.
