Adrienne Roeder is a Professor at the Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology and the Section of Plant Biology, School of Integrative Plant Science, Cornell University. Her research focuses on understanding plant development through computational morphodynamics, integrating live imaging, image analysis, and computational modeling to study how cell growth, division, and gene expression contribute to organ size and shape in Arabidopsis thaliana.
Her groundbreaking work on the Arabidopsis sepal has revealed that cell size variability arises from endoreduplication patterns regulated by transcription factors like ATML1. She demonstrates how stochastic gene expression and mechanical feedback create robust organ morphology despite cellular variability.
