Adriano Cerminara

Adriano Cerminara is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BEng/MEng Aerospace Engineering programs at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds academic affiliations with the Department of Engineering and Mathematics, Materials and Engineering Research Institute, and Industry and Innovation Research Institute. His expertise spans Direct Numerical Simulation of flow equations, compressible flow modeling, and high-order Navier-Stokes solvers.

Education:

• BEng and MSc in Aerospace Engineering from University of Rome La Sapienza
• PhD in Aerospace Engineering from University of Southampton (2017)
• PGCert in Academic Practice (University of Wolverhampton)

Research Focus: Hypersonic aerothermodynamics, boundary-layer stability, turbulent flows, and thermal protection systems. He collaborates with NATO STO AVT groups on hypersonic boundary-layer transition and turbulence, and works with leading aerospace agencies/companies.

Professional Memberships: Member of Royal Aeronautical Society (MRAeS), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (MAIAA), UK Turbulence Consortium (UKTC). Holds Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Teaching: Leads modules such as Aerospace Numerical Methods, Aerospace Structures & Dynamics, and Astronautics & Space Propulsion across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
