Dr. Adriana Ionascu is a Lecturer in 3D Design at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University. Her work bridges design and art, focusing on critical and relational design, the social role of design, and the intersection of craft and digital fabrication.
- PhD in Poetic Design from Ulster University
- BFA and MA in 3D Design from Loughborough University
Her research explores the cultural significance of domestic artefacts, materiality in contemporary practice, and the impact of digital fabrication on craft traditions. She actively participates in international conferences and exhibitions.
Notable awards include being shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize (2016). She serves as principal editor for Drawing: Research, Theory, Practice and reviewer for the Tracey Journal of Drawing.
Recent research outputs include publications on text-based design, motion-related craft practices, and collaborative projects like the Made@EU Exhibition. She has exhibited widely across Ireland, England, and Europe.
