Adrian Thornton

Adrian Thornton is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Pattern Cutting at the Manchester Fashion Institute (Manchester Metropolitan University). He holds a BTec in Clothing Fashion, a Certificate in Education (Learning & Teaching), and a Master's in Fashion Innovation: Entrepreneurship with Distinction (2016). His professional background includes roles as Workshop Manager at Leeds College of Art (2011-2016) and running a bespoke bridal wear business (2000-2011).

• Research Focus: Sustainable 'phygital' practices blending physical and digital design methods, 3D technology integration, and climate-conscious fashion education.
• Recent Contributions: Keynote presentations at IFFTI New Zealand Conference (2023), CLO3D Academic Workshop (2022), and symposiums on fashion & climate change (2021).

Awards include the 1991 Jacob Kramer College Most Promising Designer Award and 2014 Leeds City College Commitment Award. He is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and actively contributes to global fashion education initiatives through collaborative research projects.
