Adrian BURLACU

Adrian BURLACU serves as Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Railways, Roads and Bridges at the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (UTCB), a position he has held since 2020 after serving as Vice-Dean from 2016 to 2020. With over two decades of professional experience in higher education and road engineering, he is a leading figure in Romania's transportation infrastructure sector.

Education:

• Graduated from the Faculty of Railways, Roads and Bridges in 2001
• Obtained his PhD in 2011 with the thesis "Contributions on the influence of the testing method on the assessment of the behavior of asphalt mixtures in operation"

His research spans road engineering, asphalt mixture characterization, recyclable materials in road construction, and road safety management. He actively explores sustainable transportation solutions, energy efficiency, and advanced maintenance management systems through the application of new technologies across the transportation engineering spectrum.

As Head of the Road Laboratory, Professor BURLACU has directed extensive laboratory testing programs for asphalt mixture development and material quality verification in road infrastructure projects. He has held significant roles including Traffic Safety Auditor Trainer since 2017 and Technical Expert for road construction certification since 2022, contributing to national standards through participation in the development of multiple technical regulations for road structures, maintenance, and safety.
