Dr. Adria Welcher is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology at Morehouse College, affiliated with the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, Media, and Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Emory University, alongside Master’s degrees from Stanford University and the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor’s from Spelman College.

Research Interests focus on race and class inequalities in education and housing, particularly within Black middle-class families. She explores colorblind racism, discrimination, and their impacts on residential choices and educational outcomes.
Recent Publications (2014–2008) examine colorblind ideology in educational settings and socioeconomic drivers of delinquency, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with sociology, criminology, and social policy.
Media Contributions include analyses on systemic racism, educational disparities, and Black middle-class dynamics via platforms like PBS Wisconsin and WBUR.
