Adnan Kisa is a Professor at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences within the School of Health Sciences, Department of Health and exercise. He holds adjunct professorship positions at Tulane University and University of South Carolina, demonstrating his international academic engagement.
Dr. Kisa earned his doctorate in health policy and economics from Tulane University's Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. His research expertise spans health policy, health economics, global health, cost of illness, health services research, comparative health systems, and pharmacoeconomics. With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, books, and research reports, he has made significant contributions to understanding health and economic development, health services utilization, and health outcomes research.
His scholarly work shows a strong focus on the Global Burden of Disease Study, with numerous recent publications analyzing disease burden across diverse health conditions including neurological disorders, vision loss, dietary iron deficiency, diarrheal diseases, and obesity. His research often examines regional disparities and temporal trends, providing valuable insights for health policy development.
Dr. Kisa has held significant leadership roles including as Principal Investigator for the 'Turkish National Burden of Disease and Cost Effectiveness Project' (funded by the World Bank) and as a collaborator for the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington-Seattle. He has also contributed to multiple World Health Organization initiatives including the 'WHO-Innovative Care for Chronic Conditions Project,' 'WHO-Adherence to Long-term Therapies Project,' and 'WHO-World Health Survey,' as well as the Value of Vaccination Research Network at Harvard University.
