Aditya (AJ) Jayashankar is a Postdoctoral Scholar working in the field of Affective Neuroscience, focusing on functional neuroimaging of socio-emotional processing and the impact of racial discrimination on mental and physical health. He is affiliated with the Disparities lab, supported by an NIH Grant, and collaborates with advisors Aerielle Allen, Lisa Shin, and Sam Sommers.
- Educational background includes a PhD in Occupational Science from the University of Southern California (2024), MSc in Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience from the University of Sheffield (2015), and BTech in Biotechnology from VIT University, India (2013).
AJ's research spans neuroimaging biomarkers for neurodegenerative and developmental disorders (autism, Alzheimer's, epilepsy) and socio-emotional processing in clinical and neurodiverse populations. His work integrates functional MRI (fMRI) to explore sensorimotor and affective correlates, with emerging interests in racial discrimination's health consequences.
Future professional goals include advancing neuroscientific research in clinical populations and mentoring students, while recreational aspirations involve global travel and culinary exploration.
