Dr. Adina Rom is a Lecturer at ETH Zurich's Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences and serves as Executive Director of ETH for Development (ETH4D), a program addressing global challenges through innovation and sustainable development education. She holds a PhD in Development Economics from ETH Zurich (2018) and a Master's in Public Administration/International Development from Harvard Kennedy School. Her research focuses on renewable energy in Sub-Saharan Africa, impact evaluations, and randomized control trials.
Previously, she worked as Director of Operations at Innovations for Poverty Action (Kenya) and Research Associate at UC Berkeley’s CEGA. She founded Policy Analytics, an ETH spin-off using data for social impact, and co-founded GAIN to support African students in social sciences. She also serves on NGO boards including SOS Mediterranée European, Together-Against-Malaria Africa, and NCBI Switzerland.
Her work bridges academia and practice, emphasizing evidence-based solutions for poverty reduction and global health. Current projects include leveraging sensors for social science research and advancing humanitarian efforts in the Mediterranean and malaria prevention.
