Adina Elena Mocanu

Adina Elena Mocanu is a university lecturer in Audiovisual Scriptwriting and Film Theory at the Department of Arts and Media, Faculty of Letters, University of Craiova (Romania). She is also a postdoctoral researcher at the ADHUC-Theory, Gender, Sexuality Research Center and UNESCO Chair Women, Development and Cultures. Mocanu earned her PhD in 2017 from the University of Barcelona, focusing on Construction and Representation of Cultural Identities.

Her research interests span Film Theory, Gender Studies, and Post-Communist Romanian Literature, with a particular emphasis on representations of childhood, women, and the body in cinema and literature. Her recent publications analyze subversive child characters in Ceaușescu-era films, feminist film analysis, and contemporary Romanian literary themes.

Scientific awards include:

Mocanu's articles reveal trends in gender politics, historical cinema analysis, and body representation in post-communist literature. She has translated critical texts from Spanish/Catalan into Romanian, including works by Fina Birulés.
