Adi Stoykova is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), specializing in Criminal Law & Criminology, International & European Law, and Technology Law. Her research focuses on digital forensics, data protection, and the intersection of technology with legal systems. She holds an LL.M. in IT and IP Law from Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) and a PhD from the University of Groningen. She has been affiliated with institutions such as the Institute of Legal Information Theory and Techniques in Florence (Italy) and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway).
Her work addresses challenges in digital evidence reliability, AI regulation in law enforcement, and fair trial safeguards in criminal proceedings. She teaches courses on cybercrime, technology law, and data-driven innovation. Notable publications include studies on memory acquisition tools, governance models for digital evidence, and the implications of AI in investigative contexts. She received the Best Master Thesis Award by DGRI in 2017 for contributions to data protection and legal innovation.
Dr. Stoykova collaborates internationally, contributing to projects like the H2020 ESSENTIAL initiative. Her research emphasizes techno-legal frameworks, procedural accuracy, and ethical standards in forensic practices.
