Adela Borrallo-Solis serves as Department Chair and Professor of Hispanic Studies at Shenandoah University's Department of Languages and Cultural Studies within the Arts & Sciences school. Employed since 2015, she holds a B.A. from Universidad de Extremadura (Spain), M.A. from Michigan State University, and Ph.D. from University of Colorado at Boulder.
Her research focuses on 18th/19th century Peninsular literature, cultural studies, and film studies. She emphasizes Spanish language as a bridge to cultural understanding, stating it helps students 'scrutinize more steadily, to appreciate more lovingly, our own' (Margaret Mead).
Personal interests include culinary experimentation, self-reflective humor, and immersive engagement with literature and film. She values teaching energetic students about Spanish language and cultural appreciation.
