Adam Werle is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Victoria. He specializes in documenting and revitalizing Indigenous languages of Vancouver Island and nearby regions, with a focus on Wakashan languages like Nuuchahnulth, Ditidaht, Kwakwala, and Makah. His technical research addresses phonology, clisis, and Wakashan grammar. He collaborates with Indigenous communities to restore language through curriculum development and dialect classes, including the Somass Valley Language Circle and Tseshaht, Ucluelet, and Tla-o-qui-aht dialect projects.
