Dr. Nina Belmonte is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Victoria, currently on leave until December 31, 2025. She joined the department in 2011 after teaching at Stony Brook University, Hampshire College, and Mount Holyoke College. Her expertise spans history of philosophy, continental philosophy (19th–20th century), philosophy and literature, and philosophy and film.

Belmonte’s research engages critical theory, with notable publications in Philosophy & Social Criticism, Praxis International, and The New Art Examiner. Her work bridges philosophical traditions with cultural analysis, particularly through film and literary studies.
