Adam Reid is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Manchester's Division of Cell Matrix Biology & Regenerative Medicine. He also serves as an Honorary Consultant in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. His work bridges clinical practice with regenerative medicine research, focusing on peripheral nerve injury and wound healing.
- MBChB, University of Edinburgh (2001)
- MRCS, Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (2004)
- PhD, University of Manchester (2009)
- FRCS (Plastic Surgery), Royal College of Surgeons of England (2014)
Reid's research centers on advancing regenerative therapies for peripheral nerve injuries and fibrosis, utilizing adipose-derived stem cells, Schwann cells, and circadian rhythm studies. He integrates artificial intelligence for wound analysis and develops in vitro models to explore cellular dynamics.
His recent publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches, including AI-driven wound diagnostics, Schwann cell receptor mechanisms, and collagen fibrillogenesis in fibrotic diseases. These works align with broader goals in regenerative medicine and surgical innovation.
- Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS)
- PhD from University of Manchester
Reid supervises PhD, MRes, and clinical diploma students. He contributes to academic leadership as Editor-in-Chief of JPRAS and as a Trustee of the British Foundation for International Reconstructive Surgery and Training (BFIRST).
