Elspeth Hill

Elspeth Hill, MBChB, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Yale School of Medicine. She specializes in peripheral nerve and brachial plexus injuries, hand and upper limb reconstruction, and nerve regeneration. Dr. Hill holds appointments in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Hand & Microsurgery, and Surgery at Yale. Her clinical practice focuses on complex nerve injuries, paralysis management, and multidisciplinary care involving neurology, physiatry, and orthopedics. She is a global leader in nerve transfer surgery for spinal cord injury patients, advocating for timely interventions to restore upper limb function.

Dr. Hill’s education includes a medical degree from the University of Manchester (2013), a PhD in surgical education from Maastricht University (2014), and advanced surgical training at Washington University in St. Louis, Oxford University, and Brazil. She has maintained international collaborations, including roles as an Ed.D supervisor at London South Bank University and a stipendiary lecturer at Harris Manchester College, Oxford.

Her research emphasizes nerve regeneration outcomes, surgical innovations, and gender disparities in surgery.
