Adam Lewis is a Course Leader and Lecturer at Solent University's Department of Sport and Health since 2014. He holds a BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences from the University of Birmingham, an MSc in Human Nutrition (Sports) from London Metropolitan University, and an MSc in Strength and Conditioning from St Mary’s University. He is an accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (UKSCA) and holds NSCA certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Personal Trainer. Additionally, he is a qualified Level 2 British Weightlifting Coach and Level 2 Athletics Coach through England Athletics.
His research and teaching focus on strength and conditioning across all academic levels, with extensive industry experience spanning 20 years in fitness roles including gym instruction, health club management, and personal training. He has worked with diverse populations, including athletes in sports like ice hockey, athletics, and paracycling (notably coaching a GB paracyclist who won Invictus Games silver medals), as well as clients with autism, fibromyalgia, and other special needs.
Adam’s career includes roles at Holmes Place PLC, Brighton-based independent gyms, and Surrey Sports Park. His teaching portfolio includes units on sport fitness, strength and conditioning methodologies, and exercise science applications. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) after completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
