Adam Larison is an Instructor of Music and Director of the UIS Camerata at the University of Illinois Springfield. His career spans diverse academic institutions such as Kent State University, Saint Xavier University, and Ashland University, where he championed innovative and inclusive music education.
Education:
- D.M.A. in Guitar Performance and Literature from The Eastman School of Music
- M.M. in Guitar Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music
Larison’s research interests bridge historical and contemporary music, focusing on the evolution of Western Classical Music, Rock and Roll, Hip Hop, and experimental improvisation. His work emphasizes the transformative role of music in education and society.
His performances across the U.S. and Europe, including at the Kennedy Center and Tignes Space, highlight his commitment to promoting living composers through premieres of works by Georg Friedrich Haas and others. He collaborates with Andrew Stroud in Duo 220, featuring at international festivals.
Larison’s projects have been funded by Arts Midwest, the Ohio Arts Council, and Arts in Stark, underscoring his dedication to community engagement and musical innovation.
