Adam J. Hoffman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on adolescent development, particularly the evolution of social identities (ethnic-racial, gender, sexual orientation) and their impact on mental health, well-being, and academic motivation.
- Education: B.A. (2012), M.A. (2014), Ph.D. (2017) in Psychology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Postdoctoral Fellowships at University of Michigan and North Carolina State University
Current research questions examine:
- How social identities develop and change during adolescence
- Contextual factors moderating associations between social identities and adaptive outcomes
- Interventions leveraging social identities to promote positive youth development
He teaches courses including Introduction to Human Development and Native American Psychology at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
