Dr. Adam J. Hawkins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at Clemson University, with research focused on heat and reactive mass transfer in Earth’s subsurface and next-generation tracer technologies.
- Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Cornell University (2017)
- M.S. in Geology from California State University, Long Beach (2013)
- B.S. in Geology from University of California, Davis (2009)
Research Interests: Geothermal reservoir engineering, nuclear waste disposal, groundwater remediation, carbon sequestration, subsurface energy storage, and novel tracer technologies including engineered nanoparticles, reactive tracers, DNA/microbial tracers, and active tracers for fluid flow control.
Publication Trends: Focus on geothermal energy systems (open-loop, closed-loop, enhanced systems), tracer technology development (DNA transport, nanoparticle optimization), fracture network modeling, and applications in subsurface energy storage and waste disposal.
