Adam Fox is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries at the University of Georgia. He holds a Ph.D. in Fisheries (2018, UGA), M.S. in Coastal Marine and Wetland Studies (2010, Coastal Carolina University), and B.A. in Marine Biology (2006, Roger Williams University). His research focuses on population dynamics, ecology, and life history of sturgeons and other marine/estuarine fishes, particularly in informing conservation and management strategies. Key areas include sturgeon migration patterns, population genetics, and the impacts of environmental disturbances on fish populations.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Environmental Biology of Fishes (FISH 4300/6300), Fish Physiology (FISH 4500/6500), and Georgia Fishes Field Study (FISH 4650L/6650L). He directs the Fox Lab at UGA, which employs cutting-edge methodologies like metabolomics and microsatellite analysis for sturgeon research. Contact: agfox@uga.edu | Office: Building 3-421.
Recent work examines life history strategies in Gulf and Atlantic sturgeon populations, post-hurricane ecological recovery, and novel techniques for non-invasive fish health assessment. The lab collaborates on projects spanning the Apalachicola, Altamaha, and Ogeechee rivers, emphasizing applied conservation outcomes.
