Adam E Miglio is a Faculty Member in Assyriology at Wheaton College, specializing in Ancient Near Eastern studies with a focus on Mesopotamian literature, Hebrew Bible, and cuneiform texts. His research bridges Assyriology and biblical studies, particularly exploring connections between the Gilgamesh Epic and Genesis narratives, as well as political dynamics in Mari and other ancient Near Eastern polities.
He holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC) from the University of Chicago. His work includes edited volumes such as Place, Encounter, and the Making of Communities (2024) and For Us, but Not to Us (2020), alongside numerous articles analyzing ancient texts like Mari letters, Babylonian receipts, and Iron Age artifacts from Tell Dothan.
His research interests span ancient political history, comparative mythology, and the intersection of biblical texts with Mesopotamian literature. Recent projects include studies on Uta-Napishti’s birds in Gilgamesh as celestial symbols and the role of soundscapes in ancient narratives. He actively contributes to archaeological initiatives like the Sirwan Regional Project, reconstructing communities in northeast Iraq.
