Adam D. DeKraker

Adam D. DeKraker is a Professor and Chair of the Photography Program at Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD), part of Ferris State University. With ten years of service at KCAD, he teaches in both graduate and undergraduate photography programs. He holds an MFA from Indiana University (2003) and a BFA from Western Michigan University (1998). His professional roles include summer faculty at the Cape Cod Photography Workshops and MFA advisor at The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University.

DeKraker’s research explores intersections between firearm ownership ('gun culture'), self-defense, societal paranoia, and academia. His work has been exhibited nationally and regionally. He actively serves as a manuscript reviewer for publishers like Elsevier, Focal Press, Bloomsbury, and AVA Academia, and is a member of the Society for Photographic Education.

He has juried numerous art exhibitions and currently serves as President of the Kendall Faculty Association.
