Adam Czyżewski

Dr. Adam Czyżewski is a cultural anthropologist and lecturer at the Faculty of Media Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw since 2012. He previously served as director of the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw from 2008 to 2020, where he led a major modernization initiative. His academic work focuses on urban anthropology, visual culture, and architectural history, with notable contributions including Lewiatan's Innards series and studies on Polish avant-garde architecture. He is a co-author of Architecture and Avant-Garde in Poland 1918–1939 and editor of several influential volumes like Ordinary – Extraordinary. Active in professional networks, he collaborates with the Board of the Association of Polish Architects (SARP) since 2006 and co-hosted the 2010 'Between Orthodoxy and Creation' conference. As editorial director of Etnografia Nowa, he has produced over 100 scientific/journalistic texts and curated international exhibitions.
