Adam Crawley

Adam Crawley is an Associate Teaching Professor in Literacy Studies at the University of Colorado-Boulder's School of Education. He serves as faculty chair of the annual CU Children's Book Festival, a collaboration with the Boulder Public Library and Boulder Bookstore. His teaching focuses on elementary education and student teacher coaching. Previously, he held tenure-track positions at the University of Texas at Austin and Oklahoma State University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia after 12 years as an elementary teacher.

His research and service emphasize LGBTQ+-inclusive children's literature and addressing censorship of culturally diverse texts in elementary contexts. He actively contributes to professional organizations including the National Council of Teachers of English and the Literacy Research Association. His publications explore queer pedagogy, antiracist teaching practices, and trauma-informed literacy strategies.
