Adam Brown is an Assistant Professor at Hunter College's Silberman School of Social Work, specializing in clinical interventions for youth with problematic sexual behaviors. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and MSW from Smith College. Brown's research examines trauma, family dynamics, and neurocognitive factors in juvenile sexual offending, with current projects funded by the CDC and DHS.
His clinical expertise includes trauma-focused therapy, risk assessment protocols, and treatment models for adolescents who have sexually harmed. Research integrates juvenile justice, child welfare systems, and neurodevelopmental perspectives to develop preventive interventions.
Brown supervises graduate research on religious identity formation and state-family dynamics in urban China. He developed training modules on adolescent sexual behavior management for child welfare professionals and maintains a private practice focusing on trauma and shame.
