Adam Attwood is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Austin Peay State University (APSU). He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Washington State University, specializing in Cultural Studies and Social Thought, along with multiple degrees from Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University. His teaching spans K-12 licensure areas (Social Studies, English, Visual Arts) and teacher education at the college level.
Dr. Attwood’s research focuses on teacher leadership, social cognitive theory, educational psychology, and interdisciplinary curriculum design. He employs mixed-methods approaches, including case studies and surveys, to explore topics like museum education, technology integration, and bioethics. His work bridges theoretical frameworks (e.g., Dewey, Freire) with practical applications in K-12 settings.
Notable publications include Social Aesthetics and the School Environment (2018), Teaching the Struggle for Civil Rights, 1977–Present (2022), and recent studies on AI ethics in education and adverse childhood experiences. His research also addresses temporal dynamics in school culture and the role of virtual museums in online learning.
Attwood has experience as a K-12 teacher, department chair, and Model UN coach.
