Professor AbuBakr Bahaj is a Professor of Sustainable Energy at the University of Southampton, leading the Energy & Climate Change Division and the Sustainable Energy Research Group. With over 30 years of experience, he has pioneered research in renewable energy systems and established Southampton's energy research theme.

- Co-Chair of Southampton Climate Commission (2022-23)
Research Interests span renewable energy technologies (solar, marine, wind), low-carbon urban infrastructure, energy access for development, and building-climate interactions. His work addresses:

- City Infrastructure: Interdependencies and climate resilience
