Dr. Abu Bakarr Kamara is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at South Carolina State University, where he teaches General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses. He serves as Chair of the Chemistry Department's curriculum committee and acts as a faculty research mentor and summer instructor under the Made in SC/EPSCoR program. His teaching philosophy emphasizes culturally responsive pedagogy and adapting to diverse learning styles shaped by social, economic, and cultural differences.

Dr. Kamara's research focuses on sustainable synthesis methods for energy applications, particularly low-cost and environmentally friendly core-shell micro-particle production. He integrates modern instructional technology to overcome learning barriers, especially for international students, and has adapted to hybrid/online teaching during the 2020 pandemic.
